Transparent Government which provides real access to the public and holds officials accountable.

In Downers Grove I championed transparency initiatives, including podcasting and webcasting all Village Council meetings (in addition to local cable television and radio broadcasting). Thereafter, we revamped the Village’s website to disclose all aspects of Village governance and operations for the public to review, including all expenditures incurred each month. We implemented these transparency reforms because I believe it is important that the public has full access to government in order to hold public officials accountable.

I will work to enact transparency initiatives in State government that give you full access to the inner-workings of the government you fund with your tax dollars. We have the technology to place every dime of state spending on a website, in real time, so that legislators and citizens alike can see how state money is being spent. This allows citizens to hold their representatives responsible to the people they are supposed to serve.
