Ron Sandack is the State Senator for the 21st District, where he was appointed to complete the term of former State Senator Dan Cronin who resigned following his election to become Chairman of the DuPage County Board. Prior to his appointment he was the Mayor of Downers Grove, where he served from 2007 to 2011.
In the Senate, Ron serves as the Minority Spokesperson on the Licensed Activities Committee. He also sits on the Financial Institutions, Judiciary, Labor, and Appropriations committees, as well as subcommittees on Special Issues and Health Care Licensing. Ron is a partner at the firm of Gaido & Fintzen.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1986 and his Juris Doctor from DePaul University’s College of Law in 1989. Prior to his election as mayor, Ron served on the Downers Grove Village Council. His service to Downers Grove began in 2001 with his appointment to the Village Liquor Commission.
Ron participates in numerous community and charitable activities. He is a member of the Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce, serving as Ex Officio Board Member of the Chamber, and serves as Ex Officio member of The Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation. He is a member of Pierce Downer PTA, a founding donor of the Education Foundation of Downers Grove, a Downers Grove Youth Baseball volunteer coach, and an active supporter and sponsor of local charities and organizations including Family Shelter Services, Character Counts, Helping Girls Navigate Adolescence (HGNA), and The Grove Foundation.
Ron is married to his wife Kevan, who he met at the University of Illinois. They live in Downers Grove with their two children: Clare (14), who attends North High School, and Jack (12), who attends Pierce Downer Elementary School.
